Cassidy Morris on centring yourself, avoiding alcohol and luck

Cassidy Morris is optimistic for the future. In her tender twenties she is working as a television host and has amassed a mostly female audience through charm and ingenuity mixed with good old-fashioned humour.  As she navigates these changing times in the world both onscreen and in the digital playground, she talks to Des Sen about her current wellness rituals and tools for centring yourself.

What wellness rituals do you swear by?
Drinking lots of water, eating clean and avoiding alcohol - I haven’t been drinking for a while now and I can’t begin to describe how rejuvenated and energised I feel.

What tools form part of your daily rituals?
I like to have a coffee in bed in the morning and I use that 15 minutes to visualise my day and how its going to go. Music - whilst I’m woking/responding to emails is a must.

What are some personal strategies you use to bring yourself back to a state of happiness?
Yoga and exercise are helpful! To calm yourself, I think just taking some deep breaths and centring yourself can lead you to a more clear head space.

What is something outside of your current medium that you are interested in learning more about?
Politics, I want to have a voice, but I want to make sure I am knowledgable and educated before I use it.

What is your favourite meal to cook for yourself or friends?
I have a miso eggplant recipe and it is delicious! It's also super easy, I like recipes that don’t include too many ingredients!

If you had no constraints what would you do?
Travel a lot more - I would love to explore South Africa.

What words of advice would you offer to your younger self?
Not knowing what you want to do does not mean you are a failure, it just means you are up for a possibly bigger challenge.

What’s the best purchase you ever made?
A one way plane ticket to the America

Do you have a personal mantra?
“The harder you work the luckier you get”

What are three of your favourite books?
“I am pilgrim”, that blew my mind. “The aviators wife” & “The subtle are of not giving a f***”  - A lot of diversity there.

What values do you admire most in the women in your life?
I have some incredible ladies in my life, Their kindness and strength, it’s extremely contagious

What calms your nerves?
Breathing. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed, I just take three big deep long breaths and that usually gets myself back to a balanced head space

What is your perception of beauty?
A persons inner self is what defines beauty. I think there is a misassumption that beauty is on the outside.

What is a current ‘guilty pleasure’ of yours?
I have just discovered Whittakers Dark chocolate with almonds. I just can't get enough of that sweet & salty mix.

What questions have you been asking yourself lately?
What is important to me? Where do I want to be at the end of this year?
