In conversation with Mana Mackay

Manahou Mackay is much more than just a pretty face. She has a self-assured confidence and inner awareness that shine through when she is in front of the camera. Recently making the transition from Auckland to Sydney, she has signed with an international modelling agency and is a young sensation in the making. We catch up with Mana to discuss what wellbeing means to her and the things that most bring her joy.

What is your current state of mind?
Pensively enthused.

What is your current location?
Sydney, Australia

Describe your approach to wellbeing?
Wellbeing is a deeply personal and intuitive thing. There are of course baseline needs, to eat well, to exercise both your body and your mind, but spiritual needs are often times overlooked in the noise of day to day. I have always believed that we are born whole, with a deeply embedded nature that is clouded by society’s expectations of you. Wellbeing must then be achieved by the cultivation of a deeper understanding of your true self and continuous efforts in aligning ones life with that truth.

Do you have any daily rituals that you follow?

Each morning I like to spend at least 30 minutes doing skin care hair care and maybe light makeup. This time out of my day I carve out to just be alone with myself and tune in to how I am feeling, set intentions for my day and practice gratitude.

Where are you currently dreaming about visiting?
A quarantine free trip home to see my loved ones I miss dearly everyday. And Mars of course.

What is a book that you have read that left a lasting impression?
Siddhartha - Hermann Hesse.

What songs are currently on repeat for summer?

Contre Temps - Flavien Berger
Do it again - Jane Russel
Munidance - Ocean Wisdom

What is a meal that you love to enjoy with friends?
Pasta, candles and wine.

What about the future excites you the most?
Interstellar travel.
